In Bridgeport, CT attorney general urged to help prevent drug abuse, not just treat it

The Hub was honored to host Attorney General William Tong and Chief Council Matthew Fitzsimmons to discuss their efforts to address the opioid crisis and youth vaping in Connecticut.  Speaking to more than 50 officials and leaders from behavioral health organizations at the Burroughs Community Center, Tong recalled an email he received soon after becoming attorney general in 2019 notifying him the state had received its annual $120 million payment from big tobacco companies in line with a landmark settlement inked in 1998 that has now brought more than $3 billion to the state.
