The Senate Appropriations Committee earmarked two grants totaling $362,000 for the fiscal year 2023 for RYASAP. StreetSafe Bridgeport would receive $237,000, and $125,000 would go towards Social Emotional Learning programming at Bridgeport Public Schools.

The funding for StreetSafe, which comes from the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill, will help RYASAP continue to address gun violence in the city. This grant will drive youth engagement through in-person and virtual meetings and increase RYASAP’s data collection capacities.

The $125,000 grant from the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill gives RYASAP the resources necessary to strengthen its partnerships with Bridgeport Public Schools to create an SEL experience for all students. Funding will also go to programs to decrease school absenteeism, increase family engagement, and expand our mediation program to all SEL community schools.
